Our Story

A family-owned studio where every dancer belongs

Momentum Performing Arts is Norwood Park's family-owned dance studio — built on trust and belonging, where any child, first-timer or competitor, is welcomed in with open arms and grows in confidence.

Studio Overview

Family-owned, and proud of it

Momentum Performing Arts is a family-owned dance studio in Norwood Park, on Chicago's Far Northwest Side, where dancers ages 18 months through adult train in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, acro and tumbling. Run by Ken & Nikki Merchut, Momentum leads with trust and belonging rather than with technique alone.

Parents consistently describe Ken and Nikki as “wonderful people you can trust” — and that warmth shows in every class. Whether your child is taking their very first class or training to compete, they're welcomed in with open arms and met exactly where they are.

With 70+ weekly classes across 9 programs and 11 instructors, Momentum offers real breadth under one roof — from creative movement and our signature acro & tumbling to a full competition team. We instill more than dance skills: confidence, friendship, creativity and self-belief that carry far beyond the studio.

Ken & Nikki Merchut

Owners & Directors

Momentum Performing Arts is genuinely family-owned and run by Ken & Nikki Merchut — the people families describe again and again as “wonderful people you can trust.”

Ken and Nikki built Momentum around a simple idea: lead with trust and belonging. Whether a child is taking their very first class or training to compete, they're welcomed in with open arms and grow in confidence, friendship and creativity.

Under their direction, Momentum has grown into a studio of 70+ weekly classes across 9 programs and 11 instructors, known on Chicago's Far Northwest Side for warmth, breadth and a standout acro & tumbling program.

We want every dancer who walks through our doors to feel welcomed in with open arms — and to leave more confident than they came.
